Lisa's Big Adventure
Beautiful Bath
With the Easter weekend bringing 4 days of no work, I decided to head off to the west of England with Tracey and Nadia. We boarded a national express bus at Victoria (after nearly missing it due to not calculating our travelling times so well) and headed towards Bath. The one thing that struck me on the journey there was how green all of the countryside was. I'd forgotten how green the grass could be after the drought stricken, brown looking Gold Coast. It was just beautiful, and after 3 weeks in London, I was quite excited about seeing the countryside and what the rest of England looked like. It didn't disappoint.
We arrived in Bath late that morning and immediately took our bags to our hostel for the night, before venturing out into Bath's main square to eat lunch in the sun. It was a lovely spring day and I was even able to just wear a tshirt - something I hadn't expected to do for months yet. After lunch we decided to go inside the Roman Baths and explore there. It was very interesting seeing what remained of them, and to feel the heat coming off the natural spring. We sat down beside the main bath for quite a while, enjoying the sun, taking some photos and laughing as Tracey put her feet in the water and then got told off by an employee working at the Baths.
Since the day was still so lovely, we decided to do a river cruise. The cruise took an hour and we went all the way up the river with very interesting commentary from the boat driver. We then went for a wander to soak up the atmosphere of this pretty little town. I was amazed at how old and gorgeous all the buildings were and hoped the rest of England would be like it.
After a lovely pub meal for dinner, Nadia headed back to our hostel to get an early night while Tracey and I decided to go on a comedy walk of Bath. This was a great decision as a man in a purple suit entertained us for over 2 hours as he walked us around Bath. For a fiver, it was well worth it. I even got pulled out of the crowd and put in the stocks for being an Australia cuz "I should be used to it" which was both embarrassing and funny.
We left Bath the following morning in the rain, supremely glad that the weather had been so lovely for our day there. I would definitely return to Bath but of course, there are many more places to visit first.
