Lisa's Big Adventure
After Universal Studios the day before, you'd have thought Kat and I would have had enough of theme parks but we fronted up for a full day at Disneyland. With the option of visiting both Disneyland and California Adventure Park, we chose both, hitting CAP first as it was smaller. We took in a show about animation which was interesting before heading for the rides. The watery rapids ride left us soaking and then we went on my favourite ride of the day, Soaring over California. It was a motion ride where you were belted into a seat and a large screen was directly in front of you. The feeling was like being in a small airplane as you flew over California, from seeing the beach to the napa wine valley. It was fantastic and if the line hadn't been so long, I would have loved to have gone again.
We decided we'd seen enough there and went to Disneyland then, making our way through the seven worlds, starting in Tomorowland and ending the day in New Orleans Square. We did a lot of the childrens rides in Fantasyland - Alice's teacups, the Peter Pan ride, Pinochio, etc. Took a ride on the steamboat in Critter Country, a tribute to Mark Twain and then rode the best rides in Adventureland and New Orleans Square - the Indian Jones ride and the Pirates of the Caribbean ride.
We finished our day wandering the main street and checking out the Disney merchandise, successfully resisting buying some trinket that would prove to be a dust catcher! We left the park before the night parade as we had to be back at the hotel for our welcome meeting for the tour, but by that stage, Kat and I had enough of the screaming kids and loud Disney music. I still had a fabulous day and loved it as much I'd loved Tokyo Disneyland nearly 10 years before.
