Day 152: today we flew to Bangkok. Tatiana and Lino gave us a lift to the airport. Hopefully one day we will be able to repay them for there generosity! We arrived in Bangkok by late evening and by the time we arrived at our hostel we were ready for bed!
Day 153: today we got our bearings and just explores the surroundings and took the sky train into the main shopping district of Bangkok and we spent most of the afternoon in a huge shopping centre, with over 5000 shops selling all kinds of fake goods from clothes and shoes to make up and car parts. We then sampled our first taste of Thai food at the food court in the shopping centre. That night we walked along pat pong street home to a big night Market and lots of bars and ping pong shows. If you want to know what a ping pong show is you'll have to do your own research.
Day 154: after doing some laundry we took a taxi into the old city and visited the Grand Temple, home to the largest Emerald Buddha and a very important temple to Buddhists. There are also a number of government buildings within the same grounds. It took us most of the day to go round the temples. In the afternoon we took a taxi boat back along the river and seen a few more of the many temples in Bangkok. In the evening we didn't do too much, just went out for some dinner.
Day 155: This morning we were picked up from our hostel at 6:30 and drove out of the main city limits of Bangkok to visit one of the floating markets. Bangkok is refereed to has the Venice of the east because of this many rivers and waterways and so the local people live right on the waters edge and sell a d trade along the river banks. In the evening we had another walk around patpong but got a fairly early night as we are up early tomorrow.
Day 156: today we got the train to Chaing mai and a journey that was only meant to take 10 hours ended up being over 14!
