So I arrived in Christchurch in the afternoon. The airport check-in and flight went smoothly (well I slept through most of it so I think it did!). Then I headed to my hostel with the girls and they got off at theirs. We met up shortly after to get some food, as we realised we hadn't eaten for about 10 hours. They didn't give us food on the plane :( We grabbed some fish and chips (or as the Kiwis say Fush and Chups, accent is hilarious!) for $4.40! It's much cheaper here than in Australia which is good :) I definitely need to save some money! Then we had a bit of a wander of the town, which seemed nice and very English! :) It was weird being back in Canterbury, but so far away! We were all pretty knackered so I went back to my hostel and bummed around on the Internet briefly before going to bed.
The next morning, I'd had every intention of getting up a bit earlier and exploring the city, that didn't happen! I met the girls and we went for another wander. There was a market in Catherdral Square which had some nice stuff so we looked at that for a while and then went punting!! It was nice and relaxing but did actually feel like we were in England. Me and Rachel both had a go which was quite funny as we went a bit crooked and didn't go very fast but it was fun. Then we walked to the botanic gardens and sat and had our lunch. It was a really nice (but fresh) day and I did end up with panda eyes! Then I met up with JP as well who was on my original bus from Cairns and we went to Canterbury museum! We had a bit of a wander round that and saw a house that an elderly couple had decorated with Paua shells (famous in NZ). Then we wandered back and agreed to meet for making dinner and for a few drinks in the evening. We went to a few bars but, although it was a Friday night, nowhere was very busy. I went to bed at midnight or so and had to be up for my first Kiwi bus in the morning.
