That evening, we headed over to Federation square where there was a food and wine festival on. We had a bit of a wander, after having some sushi (which I've missed) and then watched a random German film outside in the square. It was a really nice atmosphere. Apparently we'd missed Charlie and the Chocolate Factory which was the day before which was a bit of a shame. Then we just came back to the hostel and got a relatively early night.
Yesterday, I met up with a couple of the girls and a German girl we met on the last leg of our trip and we went on the free city circle tram and got off near Fitzroy Gardens. We walked through there and saw a conservatory and Captain Cook's Cottage which was nice and then we walked over to the MCG (Melbourne Cricket Ground) and were lucky enough that there was a game on so we went in and watched Victoria play Queensland in a 20/20 final which was fun. We also decided it wouldn't be right not to have a beer whilst there so at 11.30am, we got the beers in! :) Not much has changed, I'm just in a different country he he.
After that we got back on the free tram and went to see the harbour which was a really nice part of the city. It might have been nice to have a few more days here to see things properly but I suppose it's an excuse to come back again, preferably with a bit more money and not backpacking. Then we popped to the supermarket on our way back, made a jacket potato with beans and cheese and then I randomly spotted a couple from my Thailand trip which was weird. I had a chat to them and then they came along with us to St Kilda to celebrate St Patrick's day. We got some drinks (goon of course) and sat by the beach which was a bit chilly but lovely. Then at sunset, we went down to the pier to spot some penguins. There were a fair few around and they were so cute and tiny, it was really nice. Then we went for a drink in a pub on Fitzroy Street, grabbed a pizza and came back on the tram. Now it's 4.30am and I couldn't sleep because it was too hot on my top bunk of the dorm and I had to be up for a taxi at 5.45am anyway. Christchurch here I come!
