It's April!!! The month I come home!!! Crazy! Have had a fab time though and met so many nice people, it's been amazing!
So that night didn't turn into a quiet one! We had a drink in World bar (or should I say teapot) but it was a bit dead so we finished that off and went to Base (Altitude) bar again and it was much busier so we stayed there with all the people from the other bus. I saw a couple of people from my previous travels again too so it was really good fun. A bit later (much later after a fair few more drinks) we went back to World Bar where we finished the night. It was really good fun though and it was my last night there so it was nice to have a good send off. They wanted me to stay longer but unfortunately I was rushed slightly as it was and had to make my way up to the north island.
The next morning was a struggle waking up at 6.30 after leaving the bar at 3.30! I pretty much slept the whole journey apart from all the 'photo' stops they made us have. Then I got to Christchurch late in the afternoon. I popped to the supermarket and then sat in Cathedral Sqaure and had a snack for dinner. This is where it got weird, a Korean guy came up to me, said something which made no sense about a seagull that was near me. Then proceeded to hop on one leg (like a seagull perhaps?!). It didn't help that he spoke no English so I had no idea what he was doing but then his old man friend tried to take a picture of me with him?!! Random and I was so tired and not in the mood I just said no and got up and walked off. Then I went to bed after a tiring/random day, ha!
The next morning I had an early bus to Kaikoura and met a nice girl in the kitchen beforehand who is now travelling the same route as me for a while so that's nice. I'd already been to Kaikoura so it was nice to just go on a coastal walk with her, have a bbq when we got back and watch a film with everyone in the evening, it was lovely!
Then the next morning we had another bus journey! This time as far as Picton for our ferry to the north island, so it was bye bye south island! We got the 3 hour ferry, I fell fast asleep and made our way to the hostel again. After that, we had a bit of a wander to the supermarket but it was Good Friday so most things were closed and then headed to a rugby match. It was a local derby between the Wellington Hurricanes and Christchurch Crusaders. I'm not a big rugby fan but it was a really good atmosphere and quite dramatic at the end. It was a draw which was a bit of a shame. Oh and I got a free ball which was thrown into the crowd which I managed to catch! Then we walked back to the hostel and came to bed, ahhhh!
Today, we're just having a wander of the town with a bit of a walk and then the museum. Tomorrow is another bus journey to Taupo which is supposed to be really nice!
Hope all is well back home. I can't believe how soon I come back!! xxx
