We arrive at the train station at half 10 in the evening, set for what is apparently a very cold overnight train from Hua Hin to Surat Thani (where you get a ferry to Koh Samui). After arriving at the train station we find out that the trains are still on strike (nice of the hotel to tell us that when we were booking our taxi to the station with them). Next option, head for the bus station to catch a spacious VIP bus, oh no, next bus doesn't leave until 7 am the next morning. So...our only other option is to jump in the back of what can only be described as a toyota pick up truck with two benches facing each other. The journey was a gruelling 7 hours in this jeep that has no sides and no back door, we nearly lost Tom and Jo a few times along the way.
After our very amusing journey we finally arrive in Surat Thani, hop on a ferry and land in Koh Samui. The first day was not exciting as we decided to take a two hour nap to try and recover from our night of travelling but didn't surface until the evening.
The next few days were pretty much the same, we learnt that there isn't much to do during the day apart from sunbath on the beach in the overcast weather, although Panda and Jordan did learn that you can get third degree burns even if there is no sun shinning! The evenings consisted off eating some tasty food and heading to a 'ladies drink free bar' which resulted in some very drunken nights. These included monkeys in t-shirts, street parties and car park raves. Met some really nice people who we will be hooking up with down under.
Overall, great place for tanning and drinking! Tuk, tuk to the party boat!
