Following the disastrous journey to Phuket, we decide that in order to get to Krabi, we would return to the trustworthy method of making our own way to the bus station and get a bus from there. This resulted in a comfortable, air conditioned journey to our destination of Krabi.
We arrived at our destination happy and on time. Instead of staying in the centre of Krabi, we were based in the small beach town of Ao Nang. Once again the hostel was up to our standards with spacious rooms, tv and good location.
The first day was spent exploring our surroundings, particularly the beach. We began quite happily, playing around in the waters of Ao Nang. Until however we discovered a tiny weeny jellyfish, 'Bob', amongst our midst. We therefore decided to abandon the water and carry on our exploration on land. As we continued along the beach, we all discoverd - much to Pands disgust, that the shoreline was lined with washed up jellyfish, much bigger than our adopted 'Bob'. In fact, these jellyfish resembled something from films such as 'Close Encounters of the Third Kind' and 'E.T.' Crazy times!
As we neared the end of the beach we arrived at an old wooden bridge that took us up over the rocks and continued with a steep incline into the middle of what seemed like the jungle. Jo, Panda, Tom and Katherine continued on with this adventure despite being told that if we carry on, we will arrive at a private resort with Security Guards. However, once we had arrived at the 'resort', it was not as idyliic as we had presumed and enjoyed taking a few pictures of the scenery.
In the evening we decided to go out and test the nighlife - suprise suprise. We found a small strip of bars next to our hostel, however due to the low season, it was fairly empty. We all had a few drinks and whilst Pand, Jordan and Katherine decided to call it a night at 12midnight, Tom and Jo decided to party on til the early hours of the morning. This resulted in them ending up in a bar they believed to be named 'Lazy bar,' however it now turns out, it was not, and concluded with them being driven home on a ped by Jane (local thai bird).
Unfortunately, the second day resembled a typical 'rainy season' day and therefore we spent most of our time in the hostel - much to Jo's relief from the night before. We therefore decided to arrange to stay another night in Ao Nang and arranged a trip to explore Ko Phi Phi and surrounding islands for the next day.
