Tioman Islands were voted as one of the Top 10 most beautiful islands in the world. So we were incredibly excited to get the opportunity to spend some time here and even splashed out on a seaview chalet. It certainly lived up to our exceptions and our chalet was 1 metre from the beach with the most amazing views, I loved it.
Our chalet also came with a selection of local cats. Aidan and I are not particularly cat people (we love our dogs!) so weren't too impressed. But by the end of the stay one cat loved us and followed us around the island and she even sunbathed with me on the beach! We collected some big shells and filled them with milk, they loved it.
We also had a resident naughty monkey who would creep down the trees when he thought there was noone looking then steal things from people's patios. He was so cheeky!
One day we ventured over to the other side of the island by trekking through the jungle. We were told it was an easy hike so we walked in flip flops! We lost the path and ended up completely lost and Aidan climbed trees trying to find a way out. Took us hours but we finally made it to the beach which was so pretty.
The only bad thing about the Tioman Islands were the sand flies who seemed to take a shinning to me. When I left I counted 142 bites, which were so itchy.
On our last night we treated ourselves to a seafood BBQ on the beach. We ordered a whole Red Snapper and loads of King Prawns, it cost us almost £10 (mega expensive for Asia) but it was worth it.
After our time on the Tioman Islands we were suitably chilled for the hectic pace of Singapore!
Katie.
