Aidan was a very lucky boy. For his birthday I decided to treat him to a stay in a very nice resort on the island of Nusa Lembongan. We stayed at the Coconut Beach Resort which was absolutely amazing.

Our pool was probably the best bit. It was an infinity pool with spectacular views across the sea to Bali (we could even see the volcano we'd climbed). We stayed in a little bungalow which had a four poster bed and yet more fantastic views.

On Aidan's birthday he was treated like a king. We found out we got free water sports so we went on a banana boat and a glass bottomed boat. They said we could go snorkelling but that would have taken up too much energy and this was a day of chill. We spent the rest of the day in and out of the pool and down the kiddy slide. In the evening we had a huge treat, a bottle of Australian red wine with our meal. I've been craving wine since we left!

I am sure Aidan will never forget his 23rd birthday! Although he was gutted he'd missed out on family presents and his mums chocolate cake. Aidan's Dad reminded him that this time next year he will be celebrating his birthday in Birmingham, eating a curry and watching the rain.
