Well we arrived in Brisbane still soaking wet, only now we had the added interest of mould on my mattress, lovely!
Next day the rain had finally subsided and we went into Brisbane. I quite liked it, not as nice as Sydney but better than Melbourne and much better than Canberra. Then we booked in to do rock climbing on the kangaroo cliffs which is supposed to be the best place to do it! Well to me it just looked like a bit of rock, we got all kitted out and the 3 of us were rotating and Brett went 1st! Well he tried and tried but couldn't do it or get further than one step off the ground! Some of the rocks were slippery and the 1st bit of the climb we were on was the hardest part as it was just flat with nothing to grip. The rope has to be pulled tight as they go up and because he went up a bit and then came down it looked like he was in a nappy or one of those boucy things you teach babies to walk in! He surrendered and I went up next, and it was exactly the same! The man wsa showing us how to do it but he was made of muscle and about 2 foot taller than me and he was at full stretch! I gave up and Louise had a go and did it! She went right up to near the top and put us to shame! Next we moved onto an easier one and Brett made a bit of headway before declaring that he didn't like it and didn't feel safe and wanted to come down! He found the 600m freefall on the canyon swing much less frightening! I had a go and got further than the 1st time before falling spectacularly and then doing the same again. Because I was up higher and then fell it was really cutting into me until the man came and loosened the rope! Then it ws time to go! It was only abour a tenner for an hr and a half but to be honest for me and Brett it was a bit of a dead loss. I could feel my fingers slipping and knew I was about to fal the second time and it was horrible! I'd like to try it in a gym where there is actually stuff to hold on to but don't think I'll ever be a fan! Still at least I came out injury free, Brett has a massive rope burn and a cut on his toe (we were doing it with no shoes on!) Rock climbing is not for me!
