Luckily Mel had a day off work to show us a round the CBD. Taking us to the Kings park, North Bridge and Leederville we were able to see Perth in a really good light. It strikes us as completely different to any other city in Australia and is a place to people come to settle and work not just a tourist trap. Unfortunately for us a lot of the attractions are closed for winter. We find the hard to believe as it is still mid-twenties. We tried for kayaking on Swan River but retreated to doing what friends catching up do best and sat in the rooftop bar Aviary drinking beers until Lorna finished work. At the garden restaurant we got involved in the wood-fire pizza thing that is so prominent in Perth.
