With slightly fuzzy heads and an hour drive to Augusta to go whale watching a big breakfast was the only remedy to bring us around. Dome, the Australian harvester, was the chosen venue where the ladies rekindled their love for the pancake stack and for the lads a full breakfast. Times like this make it feel alien to eat out but we have definitely missed it.
Examples of eager punctuality we got to Augusta an hour early, however, this gave us the chance to go see some great views from the light house. The whole vibe was that we would be seriously lucky to see whales today and all four of us were not convinced, especially Char and Mel. This is probably down to the negativity of the older crowd. On boarding the Naturaliste Boat the skippered showed the witty humour that often plays a huge part of such a trip. Soon enough we were pretty much knee deep in Humpback whales. Char doesn't think she has ever been so excited over nature and was just about jumping up and down! Matt was in heaven and his heart was beating so fast he thought a heart attack was on the cards. What on awesome day spent with these 20 metre long wonders. The tour lasted for about an hour longer than intended due to the skippers enthusiasm and we managed to see the Southern Right whale too. It would be amazing to live this close to such nature and Mel and Lorna are very privileged in that respect.
Mexican lunch, purchasing a Rubik's cube and a long drive back proceeded this mornings once in a life time activity and it is clear to say, at this moment in time we have peaked.
