A promise has being made between us never to let this happen again as we sat downhearted over breakfast. Nothing is sometimes good when your brain and body allow it but we are agitated at this thought today. It is these times we miss home the most. The stop gaps between the awesome stuff, it is just unfortunate that our plans have included them a little too much lately due to the loss of our India adventure. On the positive side we can throw our energy into full backpacking swing when we arrive in Vietnam in three days.
It didn't take long for us to feel stupid about this mornings feelings and we almost felt embarrassed that we were complaining sat on a beach in paradise. There could be much worse places we could have been. The question remained, "Why have we had this feeling what are we doing wrong?".
A simple answer came to us at about 3pm. Have a beer, play cards and listen to music. Do what everybody else was doing. It was at this moment that our month of sobriety ended and after a second trip to the shop for more beers we were back in the game. In no time we found ourselves sat at a beach bar, listening to reggae. When it got past midnight we decided that we should probably try to walk home. This is referring to Matt, who had drank no more than the equivalent of six pints and was struggling all the way back. He proceeded to pray to the porcelain God before passing out. It happens to the best of us.
