Nervous Turkey!
Happy birthday Kev!
An even earlier start than yesterday to find a car found us hiring a scooter. This option is much easier, cheaper but possibly slightly illegal. We made sure that the owners of the rental knew that if we get stopped, the police are coming for them, and made sure that our UK license allowed us to drive mopeds on the island.
First stop was the trip to the SkyCab and Sky Bridge.
This is the steepest cable car in Asia up the side of a mountain to an observation deck where a Bridge links two of the peaks spanning a valley. It was scary to say the least, Matt was nearly sick in the cab on the ascent and the Chinese girl opposite looked destine to faint. The cab was slow too so it wasn't even over quickly and the nerves seemed to build. Once we were up to the top, to our surprise, there was another cable car that just crossed horizontally across to the bridge. This was worst due to the sheeted drop of hundreds of metres below. The haze of the sky today gave us the feeling that we were even higher as all around were peaks just piercing the haze as if we were above the clouds.
Once we had taken photos on the observation deck, we decided that we should walk the sky bridge as this should be nothing compared to the things we have done this year. Due to building work going on the climb to the bridge wasn't easy and we even had to sign a disclaimer so we couldn't sue for any falls. 10 minutes of uneven steps, wobbly handrails and some very rude people, (Char was very close to telling many people that it was polite to say thank you when someone is putting their neck out for them, hanging on the edge of a rock so they could pass!) the bridge itself wasn't too bad until you looked to your feet and there were gaps in the railings, we held on very tightly to our cameras. The views of the jungle were awesome. One thing which did appeal to us was taking a photo of the glass floor, however it doesn't really have the effect we were after when it is filthy.
Once we had snapped the views, we started our descent and Matt turned a pale colour once again as the cable car reached the 42 degree angle. On reaching the bottom, he admitted that all he could imagine was the car de-railing and plummeting to the jungle below.
The 3D museum, where adults act like big kids. It's hard to explain, but have a look at the photos....awesome. Every single one of them is a painting. Why is there not one of these in England?
Not wanting to waste an 80p tank of fuel we hit the road again to check out another beach. We decided it was much better than the one we were staying near, so we would take a trip out here again another day.
Night markets are often a highlight of a place for the stomach, today's was brilliant, freshly cooked food on offer at each of the different stalls, we only wished we hadn't had a big late lunch. We still attempted to try a few of the staples.
