Nervous Turkey!
We set off to hire a car for the day, walking the main road continually getting the answer "Car finished today" (No cars left) and soon realised that the ship had sailed, we were too late. We just presumed that there would be loads on offer. It has come to our attention that Langkawi is in the down season and generally there isn't much to do. But we are never against a beach day. However, the omnipresent "jet ski, parachute, banana boat" callings, plus the roar of engines hardly made the day relaxing. It is hard to believe that this island is rated with the most beautiful in the world. It did however give us chance to get into the books we had bought.
Char - The Wuthering Heights, Emily Bronte
Matt - 1984, George Orwell
We bought the books from the vintage/classic book isle in Borneo in an attempt to expand Matt's literary horizons passed rock and roll memoirs. What a mistake this was. It just resulted in the pair of us not reading as the more advance read just made us tired. Read two pages have a ten minute nap, kind of brain workout. Eventually today we got into it and for the record understand and enjoy the message and ideas presented by them. (Did that sound ok?).
