Though the Malaysian bus services are really comfortable we still struggled to sleep only getting maybe a few broken hours. We arrived at the main bus terminal (TBS) in KL where they had lockers which we could store out big bags. This was a God sent as a day lugging around those things is likely to harbour suicidal thoughts. Bukit Bintang is the most developed area of KL (all air conditioned buildings), so in the battle to stay dry for another day we got the morning rush hour train. This was an awful/memorable moment as people were splattered against the windows and doors it was that chocker.
With nowhere for breakfast (western food) we bowed down to McDonalds. Always a last resort for food however, instead of beef sausage like oz, chicken sausage is now on the menu and that is all they were serving. No no no! Finally we found a lovely bakery and had a posh breakfast. Because we are not paying for accommodation our budget is freed up a bit, meaning some treats can be purchased.
The first part of the afternoon was spent wandering around the huge shopping mall wanting to buy everything in sight. By this point all we wanted to do was crash/sleep, when Char had her best idea to date...... Go sit in the cinema all day where we can replicate a day sat on the sofa and even sleep if we like. The films were only £1.60 so it didn't really matter of we watched them or not, this is a small fee to have cool comfort all day. The first film was 'The road within' a comedy about a guy with Tourette's. There were only 5 people including us and a couple still sat right next to us... What's that about!
After reading a sign about a handicapped local stealing from people during movies we thought better about sleeping in the cinema. Imagine that sign in the Vue. We didn't know what to do next....another film or karaoke session for two but eventually decided cinema would last longer! 2nd film - 'Southpaw' an emotional thriller about a boxer that tested the tear ducts occasionally.
By the time we were out of the cinema it was a decent time to go get the bags and head to the airport for dinner. At rush hour again some of the trains were so full we couldn't even squeeze in and had to wait for the next ones. It was 6pm and we didn't fly till 7am, so we had time to spare. Any spare time waiting for transport recently has been filled with Char memorizing the Rubiks Cube moves and she is nearly there.
KL airport is an experience in itself and incorporates a huge shopping mall into its departure suite. We managed to eat some comfort food from a nice restaurant before finding somewhere to sleep. We got in with the locals and made ourselves comfortable on some chairs clutching our belongings as we went to sleep. Matt woke up with a Malaysian guy nuzzling him and Char with some feet in her face. The sleeping quarters were close but at this point we didn't care.
