Nervous Turkey!
Arriving in a new country in daylight is a rare occasion for us but a warm welcomed one.
There was one question on our mind, how to get to China Town. Luckily with a well connected city like Kuala Lumpur this task was pretty easy, although we had forgotten what it felt like to carry our big bags around in the sweltering 35 degree heat. Within minutes, we were thrown back into Asia, heat, cars and lots of people.
Being in a Muslim country, we decided that a certain dress style was needed to stop the stares so instead of short shorts Char opted for a longer dress.
Our first tourist stop of the day had to be Pertronas Twin Towers, but with the next few hours of tours already booked up, we booked a slot for 5.30pm.
We amused ourselves by walking around the city and the pristine park which was protected by the eager security guards. In Kuala Lumpur parks you are not even allowed to lay on the benches, we thought this sign was a joke until we saw somebody being whistled at to sit up. Another no go is dipping your toes in the children's pool which sits glistening in the middle looking very tempting to all the sweltering tourists.
Once our time arrived, we rocketed the 43 floors to the sky bridge which joined the two towers. Matt felt extremely uneasy, with the thought in his mind about there being nothing under us. We continued our assent to 452m above street level (floor 86) where we were able to capture the 360 degree views of the city. This is definitely a good way to see the city but we did not think it lived up to the views of Sydney and Surfers.
With Matt not wanting his dreams to come true (we won't go into details) we decided to eat plain until we take the 8 hour bus to The Perhentian Island in a few days. However we were not going to miss out on the street food so we settled for rice and noodles but with vegetables rather than meat.
