Nervous Turkey!
Today a major decision was made. We are no longer going to India. The decision has come off the back of a nightmare of 2 months of planning and not getting to where we need to be. We have the visa, have booked the flights but a recent change to the train system means that travel is very difficult to book from outside the country. Stranded in India, after the many horror stories we have heard, is not really how we wanted our trip to end. So we have written it off as a bad job and hope to visit in the next few years when we can plan more in advance.
Now it's back to enjoying what we are doing NOW and not worrying about where we are going or what has happened (J.OHearne 2015).
Today's activity is to visit the Batu Caves, a Hindu temple. We climbed the 300 steps, trying to avoid having our stuff stolen by the frolicking monkeys. A highlight of the day was watching a monkey steal a woman's rain coat and shoot up the entrance gate. It was hilarious watching the monkey dangle the coat as if it was going to give it back and then pull it away. After a while we started to walk away but then decided that we must know the ending to the story. After a 10 minute tease and realising that there was no food inside the monkey dropped the coat back down as it went to find its next victim.
On our return to China Town, we got back into the Asia swing as we sat in a bar, eating spicy rice, listening to reggae and playing cards.
