Rotnest island, joining him on the trip is his pal Luke. We spent yesterday preparing for the trip eating copious amounts of egg and bacon, I was shocked to find Leon had purchased a bulk load, 1kg of each diced pork, chicken, lamb and veal, he will be eating well but I will have to have words with him if we are to continue our arrangement.. we stumbled upon a street parade just up the road from our house, there were people dressed as fairys, horses and other crazy costumes. Not to mention the live electro and rock music being played, the drums and bass took control as we took the chance to speak to locals who were more than willing to chat, one of the locals we meet, a ladie who had originally come from England told us stories regarding the island, recent events including the scuba diver who came up from his dive missing his stomach, an her husband who had annoyed a snake and been attacked, without saying Leon had his boots on tight and declined to take the 'complementary' snorkel kit. The boat journey was interesting, rolling waves moved the ship side to side as we noticed ship wrecks on the way, which made it all that more exciting. A group of school children were also on board, being rookie seaman their teachers decided it would be a positive experience for them to stay at the bow of the ship, this is where most people are put of the experience of sailing as it is the worst area to be in regards to becoming seasick, it smelt like a sweaty school gym after the bleep test had been conducted, I.e sweaty kids overdoing it and yacking in the nearest corner, only these poor kids had sick bags minus their pride. At one point some bright spark noticed a whale on the port side and shouted whales! Instantly the majority of passengers jumped over to see what it was all about, we could feel the boat tipping, yeah good one i thought, everyone get over one side of the boat, capsize it and we're all shark meat, luckily we arrived at the destination dry and safe.. Before we had a chance to chill we were on a bike ride around the island, it took 2 1/2 hours to get round the island, Luke had a swim while Leon climbed the trees and rocks, whilst riding around we came into contact with the local wildlife lots of lizards and the infamous quokka, (pronounced cwok-aa not cocka as Leon had earlier been corrected) a small rodent type creature half kangaroo half rat, very friendly but known to carry a vicious bite if your not carefull. So away a tasty pizza sub, then we made our way back to the beach head at scarborough, then to Perth.. A successful day for all.
