I spent the first week in Kuala lumpur, stayed at a place called wheelers guesthouse, which was a bit of a dump but met some cool people there.
Stayed in the Chinatown area of Kuala lumpur, from there was prety easy to jump on the LRT and MRT trains to get around the city. Werent many bars in the area though apart from the reggae bar which was good fun especially for playing pool against the locals!
Saw a lot of cool things in KL, spent one day going up to the top of Petronas twin towers which used to be the tallest building in the world...wasnt a great from up top to be honest but was still cool to be that high up.
The telecommunications tower isnt quite as high as the petronas towers but it gives you a much better view of the city and the Petronas towers. Me and lloyd (english guy staying in wheelers) went up there late in the day when it was getting dark so we could see kuala lumpur lit up and it was a really impressive sight (check out the photos)! We couldnt just buy a ticket to go up the tower you had to have tickets for and animal zoo and the F1 simulator. The F1 simulator was basically just like playing Formula one at home on your playstation and the animal zoo was actually ok, got my photos taken with a snake round my neck and some parrots on my shoulder....plus there was a 2 headed turtle there! prtey weird it was.
Also went to Kuala lumpur zoo with lloyd and a welsh guy i met called owen whos from Cardigan. The zoo wasnt the best ever, had a lot of different animals but all their enclosures seemed way too small for them and so they all just sat there looking bored to s***. Spoke to the president of the zoo about volunteering and he said it was fine just have to give them a few days notice thats all. not sure if i will volunteer now, depends how much time i have left when i get back to KL in the next few weeks.
Well i am now on camera number 3! i took my olympus "waterproof" camera to get fixed but they said because i bought it in Vietnam, the warranty only counted there so i would have to pay to get it fixed....they wanted 180 pounds! Mental, absolutely mental, so i decided to go buy myself another camera, no fancy waterprrof cameras now just a prety standard sony camera which i got a prety good deal on at BB Plaza in KL. So hopefully this camera will last a bit longer than the other 2!
Well i have made my way up the west coast from Kuala Lumpur to Georgetown on the island of Penang now, staying at the love lane inn on love lane funnily enough. Caught a bus this morning and i gota say its the nicest bus i have ever seen, the chairs had massage functions, each seat had its own tv and you had electric footrest and back rests, all for about 6 pounds! So i travelled up with jamie and ayla, an english couple i met in KL who were coming here same time as me. Not sure how long im gona stay in georgetown as there dont seem too much to do...mite catch the ferry to langawi tomorrow or the day after, anyways il let you know!
