Hey guys well iv been prety busy lately, last time on the blog i was in kuala lumpur and about to head to the Cameron highlands. I spent a few days there, staying at daniels lodge which was a prety cool place...they had thousands of dvds to choose from and you could just chill out and watch a film in their "cinema room". There was also a bar around the back with a bonfire where you could sit around at night having a drink. Didnt do loads there cos the weather was prety rubbish most of the time but one day me and a couple of the guys i met at the hostel, josh the american and matt from england, were able to do some trekking up to the summit of one of the mountains there. the scenery was stunning in the area and if it hadnt have been so cloudy we were would have had a sweet view of the rest of the highlands...as we got the summit we were literally walking in the clouds! Met a girl from oz called laura who give me a load of advice about oz and when im over there will try to get over to perth where she lives to see whats that like.
Caught the bus back down to Kuala lumpur after a few days there and spent the night in KL and caught my flight the next day to Depensar in Bali! Bumped into Joel in the airport who id met in georgetown a few weeks earlier and an english girl he was travelling with called claire, turned out we were on the same flight to Bali.
When i caught to Bali i stayed in a place called tune hotel in Kuta for the first night, didnt get up too much cos my flight got into bali prety late that night. Next day i moved to the hotel that joel and claire were staying in and we all shared a room. The hotel was nice, even had its own swimming pool so for the next few days we basically just chilled out in the pool most days and drank at the bar at the hotel at night. Didnt really like Kuta that much was way too touristy there, just people on their winter holidays...plus the touts there are annoying, every 10 seconds you hear "transport? transport?" everywhere you go! Didnt do too much else there in kuta so after a few days me and claire decided to try out an island near by and left joel in kuta cos he was waiting for his friends to arrive.
Think the island was called nusa lembongan, was really nice there alot quieter and less touristy than Kuta. wasnt that much to do there except drive around the island on mopeds which me and claire did one day (she just came on the back of my bike, too scared to drive one she was). Got drunk quite a lot there at the bar down from our hotel which was run by this ozzy guy who now lived on the island. The local drink was like rice wine, called Arak and was prety strong s***! cheap tho. Im due to fly to sydney on the 27th so i was running out of time in indonesia, i had to book a flight to singapore on boxing day to catch my flight to sydney...think im just gonna sleep in the airport on boxing night and then get my sydney flight in the morning then, should be fun!
Well after Lembongan we caught the ferry back over to bali and got a mini van up to a place called Ubud which is where im at now. Been here for 2 days now and its really grown on me here, wish i had more time here but gota leave day after tomorrow. Spent the first day just looking around the town, theres so many art galleries here its a really cultural place, lots of traditional indonesian crafts and dance shows as well going on all the time here. We rented a moped today and went to the Neka art museum which was ok except i was prety hungover after the night before. Went to the rice paddy fields then to find a restaurant called Sari Organik because it was supposed to be really good and it was. its in the middle of these paddy fields with not much else about except the organic farm where they grow thier vegetables for the restaurant, the food there was awesome. Bit embarrasing but i was sure it was christmas day today so me and claire bought each other a little gift, i got a sort of wooden sculptered recorder and she got a silver bracelet....turns out its christmas eve today haha and we were saying merry christmas to each other all day until the museum guy stamped our tickets and it said Dec 24! ah well looking forward to xmas tomorrow, its prety weird being here in bali in the hot sun, kinda actually missing the snow and cold back home...nah not really!
Right well merry christams everyone, or Nadolig llawen! Speak to some of you on christmas day guys on skype if i can ok.
