Hi!
Arrived safely in Buenos Aires. The bus journey was fantastic - much better than flying. The seats were so comfortable and folded all the way back so you could get a good nights sleep. Meals were also included so we stopped for a 3-course dinner and had a packed lunch breakfast supplied.
Not really seen much of Buenos Aires yet. We have both come down with a mild flu so have been staying in the warmth incase it gets worse. The weather here is around 12 degrees so a bit colder than we have been used to. I cant believe we have about 2 months of winters to go through now!
The hostel room we are staying in is not really up to much. Its mouldy and smells of dampness. Can´t really complain for the price though (about a tenner a night for 2 of us). The shower is great and the bed is clean so that´s all that matters nowadays. The hostel itself is ok - we get free breakfast (we haven´t managed to get up early enough to experience this yet), happy hour every night at the bar, and there is a BBQ every Saturday. They also offer excursions to different places. We are away to book our Tango lessons for next week sometime - I can´t wait!
The meals here are so cheap - we just had a 3 course lunch for a fiver included a glass of wine. Haven´t tried the steak yet which is supposed to be the best ever.
Its certainly the Paris of South America... a culture of sipping coffee at the cafes watching the world pass by, sitting in the parks, and remembering to look up at the architecture of the buildings as you walk down the street. Of what we´ve seen so far, its a beautiful city.
Just been looking up a good dentist... have some tooth ache and am dreading the cost of a check up and the skills of the dentist! Apparently the Americans come here for their treatments as its cheaper and better quality. Good job we have travel insurance!
Anyway, best get back to bed and rest.
