Set our alarm for 10am this morning - was awake earlier because of other loud people in the hotel! We pottered around a bit and did a few jobs like cutting my hair. It was about 12pm and Therese nipped outside to see what the weather was like...SUNNY!!! I was so annoyed. It's typical. We didn't have a window so couldn't see outside and just expected it was raining. Typical that we don't have a window to see that it's sunny.
We headed out at about 12.15pm to get some lunch. Was actually warm and quite sunny, not clear skies but as long as it doesn't rain, we don't care.
We had a look at a few of the little sites and went over the Japanese bridge to see a some of the souvenir shops.
Got a quick bite to eat in Tam Tam Cafe and then set off to Yaly for our first fitting.
I tried the suit on - could not believe how well it fit! I was amazed how spot on they got it. There was a couple of tweaks around the legs to be done though, and they had to change the pockets a bit as they were sticking out. Then they marked where the buttons needed to go.
Tried on the coat and that was pretty much right apart from a couple of tweaks. And that's it, back in a couple hours for final fit - well impressed!
Therese tried her Breakfast At Tiffany's dress on - it looked lovely. Was really well fitted, but did still need a few tweaks. Again, she had 3 or 4 women around her checking it. And they don't just ask you if it's ok, they are checking it themselves and pointing bits out to be adjusted. Good service.
The velvet jacket and the coat were really well fitted too but again just needed a few more tweaks.
Only took about 30 minutes and then we had to be back in about 2 hours.
Thought we best get some more sightseeing done seeing as it's been raining most of the time we've been here! So we went on a boat trip around the rivers and waterways for an hour - nice scenery and houses to see. The guy let me and Therese have a drive too!
On the way back for our second fitting at 4.30pm, we stopped off at another tailors - Therese had spotted a nice winter coat. Only $35 as well. So, they took Therese's measurements and we had to be back at 7.30pm to pick it up - 3 hours and they make you a new coat!
Got to Yaly and retried everything - all fitted perfect. Had to wait about 10 minutes for the shoemaker. And I was well impressed with those. Proper comfortable and fit perfect. Can't believe how good everything is.
They didn't have the leather for the other boots though.
Therese still needed her dress tweaking slightly but they did it while we were there. Think she had to try the dress on twice more, and there was just a few more things to do like sow the hem.
We had to go back again then at 7.30pm to make the final payment and things. Yaly are shipping everything back home for us too - only $38. Therese also picked up her other jacket which fit really well first time, and Yaly are posting that home in the same box too.
We're well impressed with our clothes and the service. Hopefully the quality lasts. And hopefully we don't put a load of weight on!
Went for tea by ourselves tonight at Good Morning Vietnam, which is actually an Italian. Was good food and cheap as usual. I had a calzone and Therese had a fish ravioli dish - calzone was better!
We decided to have an earlier night again as we needed to pack for the morning - tomorrow we go to Hue.
Half way back to the hotel, we realised that we'd left the hotel umbrella in Yaly. We didn't bother going back because I said they wouldn't remember at the hotel anyway. As soon as we stepped into the reception the woman asked where the umbrella was! I pretended we'd only just realises we forgot it.
She asked where it was and then rang Yaly. Next thing she calls this guy in and said "you can go with my staff to get the umbrella". This guy just started laughing and brought a helmet over for me. So I went on a little trip to get the umbrella and this guy just kept randomly pointing at shops and laughing. Then, as all drivers do in Vietnam, he drove straight across a junction and we had a couple of near misses! Was a funny experience and I got the brolley back! Therese was just laughing at me when I got back.
