We woke in the apartment, in Argentina and did a little aaahhh. It never stops being exciting, waking up in a new place. Maxi had left dulce de leche in the fridge and bread. He insisted we try it so we did... Wow it's sweet like caramel but doesn't taste quite like caramel. It's smooth, sweet and a perfect little treat for the morning.
Our amigos were coming at noon so we jumped in the shower and went for a little walk to see around the neighbourhood. It's so strange. I don't know what we expected but I didn't expect this. The houses are in blocks. The majority 2 story high. Every block tends to have a mini market that's run by Chinese. The streets have trees arching over the roads, some roads are cobbled. There's graffiti, modern buildings, old buildings, wrought iron gates on windows and doors in beautiful designs. Its full of character.
Not long after we arrived back in the apartment Maxi n Nati pulled up on their bikes. We all went the 'chinos' (the Chinese shop on the corner). Maxi grabbed a tiny trolley and we wondered up and down the three isles. The butchers at the back had huge pieces of meat. Maxi bought, what looked like half a cow. After a few more bits and bobs we headed back to prepare the BBQ. Julian turned up with his girlfriend Marti. He'd brought huge chorizo sausages and red wine and cheese. It was a lovely sunny day so we chilled out on the terrace and listened to music while the food cooked. Just as it was time to eat it started spitting so Nati set the table inside and we all sat down and eat. We didn't eat on plates. Instead we eat on round chopping boards. Apparently it's common here. It's a genius idea. It's easier to cut up the meat!
After the food had settled max pulled out his ping pong table... Maan I'm rubbish! Lees not rubbish but he's not good. The other 4 must play all the time...
Before we knew it it was time for everyone to go. We were shattered so we had a little siesta and woke to Julian ringing from outside. He had invited us to watch his band practice.
We jumped in his car and headed to his mum and dads home to pick up his dad. He invited us in. Julian lives in a huge apartment. It has 4 bedrooms, 2 balconies, a living room, study, kitchen... Inside its like a house decorated by a mum but its an apartment... Felt so weird because apartments are quite a modern thing at home so are accessorised modern-ly.
We met his mum who could speak some English and his dad too. It's so frustrating that everyone we meet can hold a conversation in English yet we can't in Spanish!
After a little tour and a kiss from his mum we headed to the practice venue. Julian's in a band with his 2 friends his brother and his dad. They were brilliant! His dad writes the majority of the songs and sings. Julian's on guitar. They practice in a sound proof room so me and lee were the only ones watching. We played a game of guess what they're singing about (its all in spanish) It was brilliant to watch and listen to them discuss and change parts of songs. Time flew and before we knew it practice was over. Julian took us to a bar to get some food and a drink. We ordered a meat, cheese and olive sharing plater and some nachos. We got 2 bottle of beer and 4 glasses and shared. Bottles here are litre bottles! The total bill, with a tip, worked out at 50 pesos per person. That's a little over £6 each!
Julian dropped us off home and we passed out straight away.
