Day 1
Today we travel onto the beautiful Tyrol region of Austria also location of the sound of music. Here we got the opitunity to go white water rafting in 6 degree waters of the Alps. After arriving in St. Johann we dropped our luggage at our hotel and had a delicious meal down the road at Bunnys Pub. Afterwards we walked back down the road into Austria's largest beerfest of the year. We enjoyed local beer, bands that were singing the wrong words to english songs and got photos with the locals in their native costume.
Day 2
The Tyrolean region is famous for it's winter and summer sports activities including skydiving, paragliding, canyoning and mountain bike riding. Lauren and I decided to try canyoning, which involved 12 degree water, 3 or 4 waterfalls and 2 wetsuits, socks, boots, hood and a helmet. We had to jump 7 meters into a narrow canyon, such an amazing feeling freefalling than the sudden cold rush as you hit the water and realise as the current swirls past you "I have to swim". Lauren couldn't jump so she absailed down which was much harder and scraped her hands on the rocks.
After lunch a group of us headed up the road and met our paragliding instructers who took us up the alps on a chair lift. We set up our parasuits and we had to wait 5 minutes for the wind to pick up before running off the Mountain untill we were running in the air so we didn't fall on our arse like John did. The first time you take off its such an amazing feeling of freedom, I can't wait to do it again. I didn't realise when my instructor asked if I wanted to go on the roller coaster that he's 11th in the world at acrobatics, it took a couple of hours to recover. Just in time for dinner on top of a hill with an amazing view. We ate apple struddle and watched the sunset. We were all so full we litteraly rolled down the hill well Rosie did anyway. We all headed back to Bunneys Pub and watched the sky divers dvds. WOW can't wait to go skydiving.
