We enjoyed our last few days in Sweden, relaxing by the lake in Bunn (the nearest village to Henrik and Donya's summer house), rowing, eating delicious meals and visiting Vadstena: home to an old royal castle and the church and resting place of the only Swedish saint, Saint Birgitta. It's been a much slower way to see a country but that made it all the better!
So after a lovely relaxing week in Sweden we were rudely shocked back to the reality of traveling today with a crazy day that involved car-plane-bus-bus-train-train-walk and a lot of running, confusion and bad advice as we made our way across to Caen, Normandy, from Vatry, Champagne.
But we are in France! The landscape has already impressed us, with dreamy little villages and beautiful contrasts of forests, rivers, and, as we stayed mostly north, endless stretches of fields. And, unlike some other countries we've visited that all look similar, it all feels so distinctly French!
Tomorrow we hope to visit the D-Day beaches while the weather's good, followed by two days exploring Caen. We're very excited for our month ahead in France!
