Today we did a whirlwind tour of Florence.

Time went way too fast and Zi wasn't able to see the real Michaelangelo statue of David (only the replica). I also wasn't feeling well, so the climb up to the top of the Cupola del Duomo I had to give a miss to as well.

I did manage a quick trip to the Uffizi gallery to see Botticelli's Birth of Venus. Also, the inside of the Duomo with it's more minimal interior decoration and beautifully painted dome ceiling.

Florence deserved and needed a whole lot more time to see its sights. If I had been feeling better I probably could have rushed and seen more. However, the crowded, busy streets filled with tourists walking slowly and the huge queues at most of the galleries and sights make it impossible to do things in a hurry.
