Today we did a whirlwind tour of Florence. Time went way too fast and Zi wasn't able to see the real Michaelangelo statue of David (only the replica). I also wasn't feeling well, so the climb up to the top of the Cupola del Duomo I had to give a miss to as well. I did manage a quick trip to the Uffizi gallery to see Botticelli's Birth of Venus. Also, the inside of the Duomo with it's more minimal interior decoration and beautifully painted dome ceiling. Flor...

Today we did a whirlwind tour of the main sights of the centre of Florence. Two hours was spent on a walking tour of the city with a local guide. Seeing the Cupola del Duomo was probably the highlight. Not as decorative inside as some of the other churches and cathedrals in Italy, such as Milano, but beautiful nonetheless. I didn't have the time or energy to climb to the top of the Dome because I wasted so much time going to the Uffizu gallery to see Bittice...

We said goodbye to Greece this morning and caught a flight to Milano, Italy. Staying here just one night then catching a train back to Aigle, Switzerland tomorrow at 11.00. We arrived in Milano with enough time to see inside the Duomo, but unfortunately, were too late to go up on the terrace to see the architectural details of the roof of the cathedral. Bummer!! This morning we caught a €25 thrill ride (taxi) down the winding road full of hair-pin corners down to the port of Santorini. This is a strange place that has been carved into the cliff-edge and perched right on the water for easy ferry access. There are lots of rent-a-car or motorbike, or quad bike places here, some ferry company ticket offices, a cafe and some accommodation sprukers, the ferry terminals and that's about it. You won't even find an ATM here....
