We had heard mixed reviews about Brisbane before we arrived, but I was pleasantly surprised and really liked it. Our hostel was in a really good location and we had a couple of nice girls in our room who we went for dinner and drinks with on the first night. We had amazing weather the next day so we wandered down to an area called South bank which had been recommended to us. There is a really cool little man made beach there which is where we spent most of the day! It was a Saturday when we were there so it was totally packed with families, you could hardly see any sand for people! I managed to badly sunburn my bottom lip (not even sure how it's possible!) but I ended up with a very red, swollen and sore lip which is rubbish :-(
On Saturday evening we went to meet Odette's friend who lives in Brisbane for dinner in the West end.
The next day we went to Australia zoo on route to our next destination, Noosa. We had a great time at the zoo it's really cool! As it's Steve Irwin's zoo there was tonnes of crocodiles, alligators and snakes to see! We had booked our bus to collect us from the zoo at 3:45pm to take us to Noosa - we were ready and waiting at the bus stop at 3:15pm and we were still waiting for the bus at 5pm! To cut a long story short, we tried everything we could think of but were pretty much stuck at the zoo, as it was a Sunday there was very little public transport! Luckily we bumped into 3 people who were also going to Noosa so we all clubbed together to get a taxi to the nearest train station, then got a train to another town, then a bus to Noosa! It took us until 9pm to get there and we were supposed to arrive at 5pm! At one point we thought we were going to have to hitchhike to Noosa and started to feel like proper travellers!! Luckily it didn't come to that!
