35- Monday 15th December 2014, Melbourne , Victoria, Australia - London Heathrow. *This little heart of mine...was born to travel the world* So here goes, my last blog of an epic year in Australia 2014... Here I am sitting in my seat at Melbourne international airport departure lounge with a long 28 hour journey, to London Heathrow ahead of me. This very airport where almost a year ago I arrived, as nervous as a kitten, but full of excitement about the year I was about to embark upon. Questions flooded my mind such as.. What if I don't like it? Will I meet other people? Will I miss home? How long should I stay? If only I could assure myself of these answers because really I had nothing to worry about. Although I had a little taster a few years previous in Perth, I really didn't know what to expect of 2014 in Aus. If only I had of known this year would be my dream come true. Australia really has been the most incredible year of my life to date, I have travel my way almost around the whole country. I started in Melbourne, then flew to Sydney, did a road trip to Brisbane, flew to Clermont, trained back to Yapoon, flew to Fiji, lived in Perth, went to Bali, met the family in Cairns, drive down to Brisbane, flew back to Carin's and finished this incredible year doing an adrenaline trip back down the whole east coast to Melbourne...all within a year! I have had the opportunity to see some fantastic things which I will never forget, for example, the Great Barrier Reef, Great Kepple island, the Whitsunday's, Fijian beaches, monkeys in Bali, the great ocean road, Australian outback and much more. I have made some friends who I know will be friends for life, when you experience traveling with people I'm sure it brings a closer bond, being able to share such exciting experiences makes this journey so much better. Thank you to all the people I have met along the way, the range is incredible, from the small town folk of Clermont, through to the party Europeans, nutty northerners, the crazy kids of Canada, the drink me under the table Irish, friendly Fijians, bossy Germans, Americans and everybody else, it has truly been a pleasure getting to know you and you have made my year much more memorable! So what have been my highlights of this year? I have to say working in The Grand Hotel in Clermont although it seemed like a drag at times it was the most different experience I have ever known. It was a country pub in the middle of the Aussie bush and so different from the city way of life I have become accustom to, it really did make a big impact on me. Meeting the people I did there, Cecil, Leanne, Wilko, Jess, just made me realise how different people lives really are in what seems like a country similar to England, yet these people lives are worlds away from mine. Clermont you defiantly taught me lots of life lessons, thank you! The east coast trip with April was also a definite highlight, although completely different from Clermont it was incredible. Sky diving, bungee jumping , Stereo-sonic in Sydney, surf lessons in byron bay, party boat to Whitsunday's, Frazer island. I honestly can not put into words the unbelievable experience I had doing the east coast. It was a complete party the whole 4 weeks, in fact I can't remember a night we spent sober which probably explains why we ended the trip with no money. But il never be 24 again and I can't think of a better way to spend my money than that trip down the east coast of Australia. Those are memories which I will treasure until the end. This year has taught me so much about myself, lesson which I know will help me throughout my journey in life. It's made me realise how big this world is, and how little we all know about it, and how much people think they know. I have realise the more places iv been in the world, the more places I want to go. The more I learn about this planet, the more I realise I need to learn about it. If I could give anybody else any advice on traveling all I would say is Do it! Lay everything you want to take out on your bed, take half the clothes and double the money. Remember, the tans will fade but the memories will last forever! Australia you have been a blast...see you in 2015.
