It's the 4th January 2014.
I have finally arrived in Melbourne after a long 24 hour flight. I set off at 5pm U.K. time and arrived in Dubai to see in the New Year. After that I had a second 8 hour flight to Bandar which is in Indonesia, then the final flight was 7.5 hours and I arrived tired but excited in Melbourne. The first thing that struck me when we landed was the sudden heat, although it is only around 22 degrees, arriving from a wintery St. Albans it seemed somewhat warmer!
I have been in Melbourne a few days now and it is a fantastic city, it has everything from street entertainers, graffiti roads and even a European feel. The hostel is pretty good too, there is a roof Terrence for lounging on and a hot tube too. Although there is so much going on and lots to see in the city, I feel I am ready for a trip to the beach, I cannot wait to get my tan on! On the beach close to Melbourne if you visit at dusk you can see the beach penguins, I am going to see them tomorrow and cannot wait! I have met lots of friendly backpackers who are full of ideas which I am taking note of and using to plan the rest of my time here in Australia. The story's of Mission beach, Fraser island and diving off the barrier reef are very exciting. I have made friends with some Other backpackers and we have decided to set off next week down the Great Ocean Road to Adelaide, we will rent a car and take it in turns to drive, as it is a long way. I am excited for my first Australian road trip and will let you all know how it goes.
To be continued...
