We had to make sure we had eaten something before our floating tank session and couldn't drink coffee, but once we'd said goodbye to Andy, we headed off. We were a bit early, so I had a complimentary vanilla tea, which was quite cool as you filled the teabags with the loose tea, and then put a stick through the tea bag, and rested the stick on top of the mug so that the tea bag was dunked into the water.
When our tanks were ready (they wash it 3 times in between different people using it so that it's sterile), I had a quick shower, put my wax earplugs in and then went into the water. It was a surreal feeling because at times you would feel like your legs were sinking but then they would never hit the bottom of the tank. However, I only remembered I should have turned the light off in the main room about 5 minutes before the end, so I wasn't as relaxed and zoned out as I should have been as I could see a white rectangle from the door whenever I opened my eyes. I didn't have any eureka moments, and the only advantage I can think that I got from it was that I probably should relax from time to time, as I'm normally quite pro-active, but I don't know whether I would have got more out of it if I had turned the lamp off. When it was time to get up, they played music, and then I had a shower to wash off all the salts. They provided soap and vinegar (supposedly to condition the hair), but I didn't have the proper conditioner that Alice had in hers, so I probably disturbed her relaxing shower by banging on the door asking for some.
I had another cup of tea (chai this time) whilst reading the books on floating. It was quite cool seeing all the artworks people had thought up whilst floating. The shop sold some tablets that made sour and bitter tastes, taste sweet which sounds weird! They also sold sets of different coloured sunglasses which were supposed to alter your mood depending which colour you had on.
Jamie had said that New Seasons was even better than Whole Foods, so we went in to check it out. They had samples of a chew bar, salsa and coffee so that was good. I brought jicima and lime (kind of like a more watery apple texture), and wanted to buy some curl gel (which I got to sample), but y card still wasn't working, so I left that as I didn't want to borrow too much of Alice's money. After sampling the tofu curry I got some of that as well as some sesame, shiitake mushrooms and broccoli salad.
Luckily the supermarket had Wi-Fi so I called up Halifax who put me on hold for ages, but they reset my card so it should hopefully work the next time I use it. Then we handed back the cider bottle Alice and Andy had borrowed, and tried out Salt and Straw ice-cream- the Portland ice cream brand. Before selecting my scoop, we both sampled olive oil flavour (actually quite nice), and I tried pear with blue cheese and cinnamon snicker doodle, both very good. I chose the less exotic flavour though (the cinnamon one) and Alice had wildflower honey and ricotta walnut lace cookies. I would have tried strawberry honey balsamic and cracked black pepper if I had seen it before, but Alice said it tasted more like plain strawberry than any of the other flavours.
We walked back to the hostel, collected our bags and waited for ages for the first bus to come, which was a bit pointless given we were only on it for about 2 minutes. We had to get another bus to the transit centre, and then the MAX metro to the airport, where a lady (who we can't decided whether she was crazy or not) asked if there was a baby in Alice's bag, as she said a lady the other day had twins in hers.
You could definitely tell that we had landed in Vegas airport; there were slot machines even in the waiting area for the gates and when we were collecting our luggage, a lot of billboards advertising all of the shows and clubs. Alice thought that luggage carousel 11 meant roman numerals 2, so was waiting there for a while, until she clicked.
We waited for the 208 bus, and I had to stop myself laughing because there was a guy on the phone saying that he couldn't come to his mates house because he had stuff to do like clean his room because it wasn't that trashy but it needed doing, do his laundry for court tomorrow, go to sleep, wake up for class tomorrow, but he didn't look like the sort of guy you should laugh at. I was a bit scared of walking to the hostel from the bus stop, but we didn't see anyone so I think it's a fairly safe area.
It was pretty late so we just went to bed.
