Whilst I was waiting for the pancake pan to be free an Austrian girl told me I was tanned and gave me some advice about what to do in New York because she was an Au Pair there. Another Irish girl told me about the mob museum, so me and Alice headed over to the old strip area. On the way we stopped at the Grand Canyon tour booth, who told us that the cheap tour you can do wouldn't let us take our own bottled water or snacks, and tried to convince us to go on the more expensive one (we later did our research and the hostel's tour has quite good reviews and is as cheap as the cheap one).
I was a bit disappointed in the Mob Museum, as I didn't really take away much interesting information like I normally do from museums. Some of the more memorable parts were they had the wall from the Valentine's Day massacre on display, and they had some information on fixed die and cards. They had a screen with 4 security cameras and you were supposed to spot the scams- I wouldn't have made a very good security guard of a casino! One mobster was murdered by putting his head in a vice and causing his eyes to pop out.
Alice wanted some sushi from one of the casino restaurants, but it was quite expensive, so we just picked up some 7 eleven food. On the way back to the hostel, a guy started talking to us and invited us to his house on Sunday because he and his fiancée were cooking spatzel and schnitzel.
Unfortunately the Grand Canyon tour was fully booked for tomorrow, so we deliberated to go on a different day or try and find a different tour but all the others were either too expensive or didn't have very good reviews.
We chatted to some of the people in the outside courtyard, and then went to Walgreens, the pharmacy, as someone told us this was where you could get food from. I had a completely different expectation to what it was- I thought it was a full supermarket but it was just what you can get from 7 eleven pretty much.
Alice had brought uncooked lentils so spent the next 2 hours making a soup, whereas I just made tinned beans and tinned tomatoes, so I was ready for the night out to see Tiesto a lot earlier than her. We got some free drink at the hostel, although it wasn't that nice, and then paid $15 to get transported in the van with 20 odd other people (very cramped). We went to one of the casinos which had a club inside, and had to queue for ages, but then it was pretty cool when we got in, although I didn't see that much of Tiesto, and preferred the downstairs hip hop room.
