Hotel options
In the big cities there are mostly competitive set hotels, like Thon hotels, Radisson Blu, Scandic hotel, etc. These are city center hotels with brand names, and are often places near a land mark. They have average around 400 rooms to offer. They focus on the luxury and comfort of the guest but also great meeting rooms and facilities for bigger events.
The boutique hotels have high popularity in Norway because of its charm. Boutique hotels in Norway brings out a specific style to the design of the hotel. Some of the popular hotel designs are inspired by Vikings, a farm, a cottage, or has a vintage style where they have used a historic building, keeping the history going of that place. These hotels have less than 100 rooms and offer on-site food with an option of cultural food.
Some of the boutique hotels you can find are budget hotels. The budget hotels offer lowest room rate and basic service. They don't spend too much on the style of the hotel, just managing it. These hotels usually just offer the room, breakfast, and internet access. On hotel booking websites you will also find some apartments included as budget hotels.
Resorts are full-service hotels that offer different activities and recreational facilities, but they have one main activity or amenity that is their signature attraction. In Norway, this is most often spa or skiing opportunities. If you travel up north during winter, you will find resorts where their main focus except for comfort, is to take you to see Aurora Borealis, also known as the Northern lights.
