Transportation
There are many ways to travel within Norway, there are airports, cruise ships and ferries, railways and busses. These are not just used by tourists, but the Norwegians use these options to commute on a daily basis. Well, except for air travel.
Air travel
There are six airports in Norway. Oslo Gardermoen Airport is the main one, and also the biggest one. Most international flights arrive here, so if you're traveling inbound, then this is where you would have to transfer. Many of the biggest airline companies flies to this airport, like British Airways, KLM, SAS, Qatar Airways, and of course Norwegian Airlines which is based in Norway. Oslo airport is about 28 miles away from the city center, and easy transport to get there.
Water travel
A popular activity to do in Norway to see the fjords and the mountains, is to take the cruise ship Hurtigruta in the Norwegian waters. They many ports and destinations to go to, but the most popular destination is Bergen, on the west coast, for its famous sceneries of nature and historical sites. As you cruise on the fjords you will see breathtaking views of the mountains and of glaciers, the land and much more. There are even cruises to go north in Norway
to see the midnight sun and the northern lights.
Oslo city is right by the coast and has a harbor that's part of the city center. This harbor is connected to the Oslo fjord, where they have boats and ferries to cross the waters for you to visit the smaller islands that are close by. These boasts are also there for people working in the city but lives on the other side of the fjord. They use the ferries to commute every day to and from work.
Ground travel
You have basically any option of transport on ground. There are trains, busses and cars traveling longer distances, and in the cities, there are busses, trams, bicycles and scooters for a quick rent through an app or a membership, to move withing the city. All trains traveling in Norway are under the same company called NSB, but there are busses from different companies, and boats and trams too. However, they all go under the same ticket system so you can use a day pass on all of the transportation options mentioned above.
Considering all the different options of travel in Norway, it is easy to travel within the country, especially in the cities. Since the government has focused a lot the last years on "greener" options, they encourage everybody to use cars less. There is still of course and option to rent a car, and this would be a minimum of 40 US dollars a day. Norway is an expensive country and so are the travel prices too, but to make it cheaper, you can use the transportation system. Since the system is focused on being easy to use for the locals, it's easy for those traveling there too.
The transportations system is well put together in the country. An example is the capitol Oslo. Within Oslo and the county Akershus, surrounding it, have the same ticket system. This area covers about 2074 mi², so you can travel far using the same ticket costing $28 for 24 hours pass. But if you only want to explore Oslo, you only pay $12. This ticket would cover traveling on trains, busses, trams and ferries.
You also have an option using taxis. This is not common to use in Norway because of their high prices and because there are many other options that are cheaper. There are options of Uber too, but since the government considers the service to be illegal, it wouldn't be the best option, even though you as a passenger wouldn't be in trouble.
