I spent the last hour of last night trying to persuade someone in my dorm to make me breakfast, let's see if this materialises!!! Yep, I managed to get a cup of tea and egg on toast freshly prepared by my norweigan friend!
Caught the ferry back to the mainland and back on the Oz experience bus from Townsville to airlie beach which takes about 4 hours! 1 night in airlie beach before heading off first thing in the morning for my 2 day sailing trip around whitsundays!
Uncle buck (our Oz exp guide) is currently helping me book my itinery down to Brisbane! On Oz each area is famous for different things and they make a 'big thing' monument to attract the tourists, hence the picture of the cassowary and snake! I missed the banana and some others though as I was fast asleep!
Just had a toilet stop and noticed a contaminated needle box on the wall, when I adhesive guide why it was there he said 'the aboriginals like to shoot up in the park'! Just crossing the suburbican river and heading into central Queensland!
The whitsundays consists of 74 islands(8 with developments on) including Whitehaven beach with 99.9% silica sand, excellent for exfoliation and also good to brush your teeth with! They acquired their name as captain cook sailed through them on Whitsunday!
Microscopic coral polyps eat algae and s*** out limestone! If water temperatures continueto rise, the algae could die off and kill the gbr! Also farmers fertiliser could enter the reef due to flooding, it would make the water cloudy which would also be detrimental to the gbr! 2 weeks ago the coral polyps release their sperm at the end of november! Brain coral is found on the outer reef as they are stronger and take years to form! The finger coral is weaker and found on the inner reef!
The gbr is the largest living organism seen from space and stretches over 2000km! There are 200 local jellyfish and 2 that can kill people so stinger suits must be worn!
Arrived at airlie beach, checked in at base, checked in for my 2 day sailing trip on siska, a boat once boarded by prince Charles in 1979! Bought my sea sick tablets and goon, just having tea at hogs breath, gotta pack and then I'm all ready for my early start :0)
