I arrived in Brisbane and it was like a scene off a movie, as soon as I got off the bus, our eyes met and we ran towards each other in slow motion!!! We both had so much to tell each other that we were all speaking at the same time!
When we got home we drank pink champagne whilst kev cooked an amazing BBQ!!! Catching up was amazing and we were both so pleased to see each other!!! It's amazing to hear a normal voice and have someone there who actually understands my jokes, we laughed our heads off for hours!
The next day Laura took me to the local shopping centre to hand my cv out so I printed off 30 copies and they went like hot cakes as it's nearly Christmas! I dont mind doing this work for a bit as you get about $20 ph and more at weekends which is the same as for a proper youth justice job! The following day I had an interview at subway (just as a backup) as I have an interview tomorrow at 'safe places', a residential care home for aboriginal kids!
The subway interviewer told me the owner doesn't employ people with on a visa or of my age as a rule so I must have done something right as I now have a two week trial as get this, a 'sandwich artist', yes you heard right, no joke, they think it's art! During the interview she basically wanted me to sign my life up for a subway career and even asked questions about why I was here and what Laura did!
I decided to attend the job at 'safe places', a residential care home for aboriginal kids as it was a 3 minute drive from Lauras home! After a 2 hour gruelling interview answering questions such as 'what would you do if a young person lost control and punched you in the face'? I was offered the job on the spot! $48,200.00 ya know!!! She also expected me to progress to management quickly with all my experience and thats millions!!! This knocked me back a mile as I'd done no research as was only attending for interview experience and now I have an extremely difficult decision to make!
I would absolutely love the job but I am only staying with Laura for 2.5 months, they don't want me to start until January and there's a 3 week training course to complete! I'd have to get a car and I'd feel really bad about leaving!
Subway however is still good money and within walking distance! Although they made me swear my life service to them, I wouldn't feel as bad about leaving so I have a big decision to make whilst I sleep tonight!!!
Meanwhile Lauras been offered an amazing job on great money at an international auction company and she starts in jan! This enables her to move closer to the coast and her and kev will be able to get their dream pad with, check this, a pool!!!
