Well what can I say, during my flight over from Perth to cairns, I was beginning to believe I had been rather ambitious in booking the 'lively' hostel as the effects from yesterday's pink champagne began to set in!

I was slightly worried also that I was arriving at Gilligans at 5 am and was not booked in for that night! Absolutely knackered, I smiled at the guy on reception as sweetly as I possibly could at that time of the morning and bless him, he managed to find me a bed!!! God I was thankful!!!

I walked into the pitch black room quietly Whilst shining the torch from my phone at each bed to find the free one and to my surprise, these were not girls as I had expected, but bare chested lads!!! The room was full but I managed to find a top bunk in the corner and closed my eyes whilst wondering where the lads were from!!!

I'd been asleep about an hour before I heard the lads wake up and I was over the moon to be hearing the Irish accent!!! 'what about cha' I said and we all got ready and went out for breakfast!!!

Emmet, johnny, Donal and daragh had flown out from Ireland yesterday and were at the start of a years working holiday!!! I can't believe how little planning some people put into this sort of adventure! When I asked johnny if his mum was gonna miss him, he giggled and replied in his Irish accent, 'my mums got 8 bloody kids, she won't even notice ones gone'!! Ha ha

Went to chill by the pool and ended up playing netball with Matt and Dave from Portsmouth who have been working on a farm out here and Eric from Canada who's just started a years working visa! Just been to book our snorkelling on the great barrier reef trip for tomora, sooooo excited!!! Off out for a BBQ tonight at cairns park!!!

Whilst listening to some weird and wonderful Australian farm stories about 12 year old rodeo riders, 2 half dead owls tangled up in the yutes bull bars and camel spiders being hit on the head with golf clubs before carrying on their way, it wasn't long before I noticed the dog sized bats that kept flying overhead, how relaxing!!! :0) xx
