Extremely early start, up at 6 to board my top deck 3 day safari to head from Sydney to Melbourne along the 1350km road trip with 'squatter' our driver!
Only a month left until I'm home, starting to feel sick about giving up my hippy life to get back to normal but hey, my 2nd year visas there if I need it! Although I'm not really feeling swapping my secluded beach life for the snow I keep seeing on Facebook, I can't wait to swap my 24 carrot plastic for my jewellery and kinda excited to see everybody!
Touring round Canberra, squatter loves the sound of his own voice so were learning lots of history! We visited the impressive war memorial and then parliament house which was really interesting as there is a permanent camp site of aboriginals on the doorstep who are protesting 'sovereignty'! They accept no handouts off the whiteman and have had a permanent fire burning since 1971! Ideally the aboriginals would like everyone without aboriginal descent to 'go back home' and things often get out of hand like last week when Julia Gillard (Australian president) was nearby on Australia day in a glass building and had to be dragged out by police through hundreds of angry aboriginals, loosing a shoe!
Omg can this guy talk, he likes to say everything twice and doesn't take a breath! Australians are so politically incorrect it's unreal, he stops mid sentence during our tour of parliament to laugh at a short family! We then take a tour round the many embassy buildings for all the different countries and he laughs as we drive Pakistan as there is no building, just a sign, whilst saying 'there should be a tent in there somewhere'!
