After the crab racing, I had a drink with a local Fijian called navura diqa to try and find out some truths about the local village! He did my washing for me earlier free of charge and hand delivered it back an hour later! He's 28 and has laughs and jokes about his Scottish manager to whom he said, 'you don't know who I am, I am an island boy'! He earns $2.50 ph and a can of deodorant costs $6 so the resort isn't doing the locals as much good as it makes out! He's a lovely guy and told me how he caught 6 iguanas in the forest and kept them as pets before freeing them back into the wild! He enjoys spear fishing and catching wild snakes in his spare time! He speaks proudly of his one trip overseas to Canada to play rugby where he won a medal for the tournaments best player!
