Loving the way the fijians dont use names to get each others attention, the kiss loudly, doubt it would go down too well in the Broadway! Wow, I've managed to complete my PADI diving course in a very strenuous 2 days instead of 4! Completed the 5 sections of the coursework! This island certainly has a different feel to it, literally, I discovered as the boat driver stood over me revising with his groin between my shoulder blades! Today I did two 18m dives and had tests on navigation, buoyancy, replacing my mask and buoyancy control device under water, helping a buddy who has run out of air, aswell as emergency ascents! After my 400m swim in a strong current and 10 mins treading water we were able to dive through caves and see lots of marine life and coral that changed colour when touched! Everyone's now trying to persuade me to do the shark dive, uuuuummmmm think I'm skint!!!!! As we got back and went into the dive shop to look at the underwater pictures, Apo, the instructor has shut down the laptop and unplugged it! As we rebooted we realised it was riddled with porn, I suppose he can't just pop to his local newsagents for a mag!
1pm and I've passed my exam, few drinks to celebrate and I'm off to another island tomorrow, happy days!
Rob, my dive master was telling me stories about 7 brothers and a sister from Polynesia, making their way down to Fiji on a boat many years ago! When they hit the first island, one of the brothers raped the sister and the other brother faught with him on the beach! After months on the boat, the other brothers decided to leave without them but the brothers saw and swam fast enough to make it back aboard! The sister however wasn't fast enough and was thrown two pigs and some crops to help her survive! She was the only inhabitant on the island and gave birth to her brothers child! This explains why the north island in Fiji is inhabited by Polynesians!
Also tonga is very close to Fiji and you can see the houses from the mainland on a clear day! 25 years ago some brothers decided to abandon their sister on a small Fijian island! She was the only inhabitant and although the Fijians regularly fished close by, she was always hunting for coconuts and fruits and was never seen, until 2 years later when the Fijians decided to collect some fruit off the island and they spotted what looked to them like a devil! All her clothes had perished and her hair was the only thong covering her boobs! She did not speak Fijian but they kindly took her back to their home, got het hair cut, fed her and gave her fresh clothes and they now live happily married with children, madness hey!!!
Just boarded the Yasawa flyer vessel, you catch a small resort boat over to it and I have just seen all the blue lagoon staff who shout 'hey Laina, nice to see you again', really sad to leave everybody, gave Josh a sad wave goodbye!
