A relaxing day today. After loosing a lure to a barramundi in the Roper river yesterday evening, the boys tried their luck at fishing again today. It ended when Kaidan declared "let's face it Dad - we're crap fishermen".

This campsite was a good find, you can hire canoes and there are pontoons in the swimming area on the river. Too lazy to canoe in the heat today but we all went for a swim in the Roper river which was lovely and refreshing. Just a little concerned about crocodiles but it had been checked for salties and was a designated swimming area.

We have heard the Savannah Way roads are atrocious in places (down to 25km/hr) so have decided to give most of the dirt roads a miss and hit the tar seal to get to the East coast. We will still see the main things we wanted to, like a lost city and the lava caves. Also Grandpa Verne will be in Mt. Isa for work next week so we can see him.
