Kyles worldwide travels
Hello all Our next stop was Potosi...the altitude is a killer. Most of us were in bed the first day...could not breath to save myself and boy does it give me a bad attitude...i am in the worst mood...everyone is trying to keep out of my way which is for the best. The city is rather nice, not all that much to do or see but never the less it is a cute little place. The main attraction is the mines. The conditions in the mines is unbelievable...there are little kids working down there for 10-14hrs a day. The air is full of crap and there life expectancy is only till about 18 years old...what a life!!! I geared up to go down the mines but i got about two steps...not in the mine but close to the entrance and then that was the end for me...i just couldn?t bring myself to go in...it was to dark, to cramped and i was all together just to scared...so i turned around to bail and ran straight into the guide. He was a little confused about where i was going...i kept telling him i needed to get out and he kept telling me i hadn?t actually got in yet...i didn?t see his sense of humour!!! It was lucky i bailed when i did cause apparently the group had to run the first 50 meters due to a cart full of rocks running down the track and everyone had to get out of the way...there is NO way i would have been able to move. I ended up waiting in the miners canteen, sipping Coco tea out of the dirtiest mug i have ever used...but i couldn?t exactly tell them `No thanks your mugs are to dirty for this little princess`...hehehehe The most amazing this was that it started to snow whilst i was waiting for the group to come back out of the mine...it was fab, couldn?t believe my eyes. We had spent the last couple of weeks in temps of about 40 and then all of a sudden we?re in the snow...lovin it!!!! We finally said good bye to the altitude and headed to Uyni to start our tour of the Salt Flats.
