Ometepe Was stunning to look at, 2 massive volcanos in the middle of a never ending lake and took us over an hour to get from the mainland to the island. On the second day, me, Jord, Seb and Nick rented out 2 scooters and drove around the island. Now when we were choosing which bikes to have we were advised to go with the larger engined bikes with wider off road tires as the roads on the other side of the island weren't so good... Of course I ignored his advise and just went for the cheapest option..! Now these were probably the worst roads I have driven a bike on since I've been riding... Guess he wasn't exaggerating.! They were really only suited for 4x4's or off road dirt bikes, some parts of the dirt tracks were only made up of small boulders, really not suitable for a scooter with thin tires. But was definitely good fun riding round, but tiring. I think Seb was a little anxious at times when the bike started to go in directions I didn't intend on... We were told the hike up to the waterfall was around 2 hours.. None of us believed the hostel owner and thought we could do it quicker... Well we were wrong, all of us were actually wearing flip flops to tackle this walk. Definitely not the best decision, especially as we got higher up into the volcano and it started to rain due to being in the clouds and we all just lost footing in our flip flops. The waterfall was pretty epic.! Definitely the tallest waterfall I've been to and just from the height and sheer volume of water coming over the falls you couldn't stay under there for long at all.!
