Kya Travels
We woke up this morning and Darren went down to book one more night at the hotel. He wasn't feeling sick anymore, but still coughing up some not-so-nice stuff and it was nice to have our own bathroom for that! So we thought we might get up and go for a wander to find some food, and I went to put the camera battery on the charger when I realized I couldn't find it anywhere! Must have left it in morocco or somewhere!! So I thought I'd look for it where the camera case was and couldn't find that either. That's when I freaked out. The actual camera was in my handbag but the case was missing, which had two SD cards FULL of photos! After thinking about it I thought the most logical place for it to be would be in the hire car, as I'm pretty sure I had it when we got in the car, and had used it on the drive. So we went downstairs to call Avis but couldn't get through, but the receptionist told us where to find the office in the city and they would be able to check from there, so we headed out and jumped on a bus and went into the city. We got off by the train station then walked down what looked like an extremely dodgy china town area and arrived at the Avis centre at 1:08. They closed for siesta at 1. So extremely annoyed we left there and went to find some lunch. We walked back down the china town section, but couldn't find anything vegetarian there, so kept going. We found a little cafe that looked ok and sat down. After looking at the menu for about 10 minutes we were told they weren't serving food. So annoyed again, we left that one and went to a little sandwich shop up the road and ordered a drink and a sandwich each. They came out, and mine had tuna in it! Argh! I asked for one without tuna, so they took it back, scraped out the meat and gave it back to me. There were still tiny bits of meat all through it! Darren helped me out and got her to understand that I couldn't eat meat, and I eventually got a sandwich without meat! Frustrating. We decided to come back to Avis later and headed back to the bus stop. We got a small ice cream each on the way, then got on the bus. The driver wouldn't accept our €50 note (it's all we had left!) so we had to get off at the next stop, change the money in a shop then jumped back on before everyone at the bus stop had gotten on. But we made it back to the hotel and went back to bed for a siesta. When we got up it was time to head back on the bus into town again to meet Ely and Graham again. We got the bus in to the plaza Ayuntamiento to meet at the same place. We were a bit late and the others weren't there. I hadn't heard back from them, so we decided o walk up to the place we were drinking yesterday to see if they were there, which they weren't... We used the wifi there to see if they'd sent a message on Facebook, which they hadn't... So we were a little confused! Eventually I got a text back from Graham saying where they were, so we headed over there where they were sharing a jug of sangria. Darren and I got a beer and joined them at the table. After our drink we headed over to Palacio de la Bellota and got a table. I ordered my vegetarian meal, and we ordered some starters and ate a lot of food again! When the mains came out the three meat eaters got a massive chunk of lamb leg each! The cuts were so massive! Almost as big as your head! Crazy. Ely couldn't finish hers, but luckily she had two boys to help her out! I had a veggie stew and some oyster mushrooms which were delicious. After dinner, more wine and a chat, we walked down the street back to La Casa Blanca for another drink. Darren got his crazy bourbon drink again, I got a beer and the other two got a cocktail each. We had a good chat, and a laugh at a girl who looked like she was only wearing a bra... You couldn't see the onesie she was wearing because of the seat she was sitting on. That was pretty funny. We had a joke about it with a guy that was sitting by himself across the courtyard, then tried to invite him over, but he was happy sitting by himself. After a bit more of a chat, the waiter brought out another round of drinks for us, even though we hadn't ordered it... We were quite confused for a while until the waiter told us the guy from the other table had bought them for us!! So we made him come join us then! He was Steve, from Liverpool, and he was on his way back to the UK by public transport. We had a chat with him for a while, and talked about his near death experience when surfing in San Sebastien! Pretty crazy! He seemed up for a big night, but after our drinks we were all pretty wrecked, and the pub was closing up, so we said our goodbyes to everyone and went to grab a taxi. We chatted with the taxi driver about Daft Punk, because the music he was playing suggested he might like them, but he hadn't heard of them before. Then we got back to the hotel and went to bed.
