Kya Travels
Woke up had a fruit platter, toast and juice on the deck for breakfast, and headed to the bus stop and went out to Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary. Had a look at some lizards and there were a couple of wild ones that started fighting each other! Then we jumped on the train which took us out to the Free Flight Show, which was amazing. They brought out owls and eagles and everything, which flew right over our heads and the wing of an eagle touched my head. Then we went around and had a look at some echidnas, koalas, wombats, and some birds then stopped at the cafe for a wrap/burger. Then we went to the Totally Wild Snakes Alive show, where they had pythons and black snakes, a dingo cub, a possum, a tawny frogmouth, and they talked all about them. Then we went over to the kangaroo and emu section, and you could go up and pat them and feed them. Then we went up and looked at the freshwater crocs and one massive 5 meter saltwater croc, and eagles, tree kangaroos and cassowaries then went back for a croc show where the guy talked about crocs, but the croc didn’t move at all because of the 'cold' weather. Then we went back through the kangaroo enclosure and saw the feeding (and a cheeky emu joined in), then caught the end of an aboriginal dance show, then headed back out the front to feed the lorikeets. They gave us plates filled with nectar, and about 4 lorikeets landed on Darren’s plate and 1 walked on his hand. Then we went back to the bus stop, got a few snacks from the milk bar and got the bus back to the apartment. We got changed and got a taxi out to Dracula's - a theatre restaurant. Bought a program off a zombie girl in the line, then we went into this tiny room lined with coffins, where we were greeted by a vampire guy, then walked through a coffin into the foyer. Went up to the bar and bought a few beers each, then we went down these stairs and into a ghost train, which had an awesome spinning room, and lots of cool stuff and a girl jumped out and screamed, which was scary! Then went to our seats. There was an awesome jazz band doing cover songs, and all the waiters were dressed up too, had a few more beers and they put on a show. It was really funny, and about halfway through, they showed footage of everyone being scared in the ghost train. Meals were amazing with my vege stack served in a plastic skull, and Darren got a lamb rack. More beers, and dessert was a chocolate coffin. Made friends with the girls across from us on our table, Neen and Sarah, and hung out with them in the bar for a bit afterwards. Then headed off, stopped at macca's, and don't really remember too much else... :P
