Kya Travels
I woke up this morning and went downstairs for a breakfast of a croissant, baguette and juice, then met up with Lyle who gave us a few things to keep with us and we gave him a few things to take home, then I went back upstairs, woke Darren and packed up. We checked out, then said our final goodbyes to Lyle who was heading in the opposite direction. Then the trio became a duo. We walked to the metro and got a train to Montparnasse where we bought a train ticket to a place called Auray. The train was leaving in about 10 minutes so after we worked out how to read our ticket we found our platform and walked all the way down to the fifteenth carriage, which seemed to take forever! We found our seats and the train set off on its way. We got some lunch and I took my sandwich back to the seat while Darren waited for his food to be heated, then he came back to the seat with an extra sandwich! They must have thought they hadn't given it to me! Makes up a little bit for the exorbitant price of the train ticket! We spent the next few hours snoozing and listening to music, before arriving in Auray. From there we caught another train to Plouharnel where we stopped for a beer to share before jumping on the bus to Carnac. When we arrived we walked up the street and found the tourist information centre, where we got some information on accommodation and then went to walk to find a place that looked cheap. After walking 5 or so minutes down the road we realised we were going the wrong way... We found one hotel but it was too expensive, so we doubled back, got directions from the info centre again and headed in the opposite direction and went too far again! So we doubled back AGAIN and this time found the sign pointing the right way. I've never had so much trouble reading a map as in Carnac! Crazy! So we finally found the place and went to check in, and there was nobody around... We waited for a bit and knocked on the door marked 'privè' and finally someone came out! Lucky for us they had a room, and she took us upstairs and checked us in. It was pretty nice. Pretty exhausted after the travel and a few nights ****** sleep and being sick, we fell into bed and slept the afternoon away! When we woke up it was about 9.30, so we headed out to find something to eat. Just around the corner was a crêperie so we thought we might try that, seeing as we haven't had traditional French crêpes yet! We ordered, after the nice girl there helped me find a vegetarian one, and when they came out they were huge! They even overlapped the plates they were that big! The crêpes were square with the fillings in the middle and a good amount of lettuce on one side. We thought the crêpe would be the boring bit and the filling exciting, but even the crêpes were filled! Mine had cheese and Darren's had egg and onion. They were so yummy, the only problem was that they were so big we couldn't fit in a dessert crêpe! Next time! So we walked back to the hotel after that and got some wifi action and watched some TV before going back to sleep.
