Little Kirsty Ventures to Pastures New
Bought a new camera- woo friggin hoo! Bout time! On tues, I at last watched the end of Braveheart with my class- every time I have arranged to watch it, the VCD player has been missing etc. Mum and gran arrived later in the day to meet Johnston and Catherine. Mum chatted to Catherine for a while about child abuse and we arranged a time for her to give a presentation at the Society for the Deaf. Mum and gran then went back to the hotel and I continued with my afternoon class- trying to prepare the Scottish presentation I have been asked to give. Johnston approached me about the incident of Farhan breaking his wrist in my class- to cut a long story short, I had to write a statement of events, didn't seem like a big deal- but then, just as I was leaving the school to go back to the hotel, Fiona, another English teacher, approached me and asked what happened with Farhan and it turned out that a group of teachers were getting "disciplined" about the incident because Farhan's parents had made an official complaint and the other English teachers are supposed to over see my classes, so basically, they got the blame. Fiona told me taht I was being seen as the "bad guy" by other teachers cause they didn't know the full story- so she wanted to find out exactly what happened to set the story straight. I was obviously taken aback a bit by it all and I had to re write my statement, acht doesn't matter now.
Anyway, eventually headed back to the hotel for quick cocktails then got our stuff ready and headed for the airport. Arrived at 10pm in Kuching to find that the hotel recommended in Lonely Planet and described as "the best place to stay in Kuching" was a bit of a smelly slum. Wasn't too bad, but we soon moved on to the Crowne Plaza Hotel, to some comfort.
