Was on a pretty good bus on the way to Dunedin, met up with some folk i'd been on the bus with a while ago! Slept for the first part of the journey, then we put on some xmas tunes and chatted and then slept for the last part of the journey. Was in Dunedin by 12.30 which was good going. Staying in the Central Backpackers which is nice. Again it has a more homely feel to it which i like and there is a wee cat running around the place. Just chilled out for a few hours before i went on a wildlife tour.
The tour semed a bit expensive but a couple of people on the bus had told me it was good so i did it. Got to see some Royal Albatross and they are totally massive!! We then went out to the peninsula to see the rest of the wildlife. However u would not believe the wind up there. U could ctually totally lean back against the wind and it held u up!! Bit scared in case i got blown off the cliff but i did have John there to catch me if i did lol! First we went down to see some penguins. On the way we saw a couple of New Zealand Fur Seals. We also saw a few Yellow-Eyed Penguins which was cool. Also saw some tiny Blue Penguins in there nests. A Hooker Sealion came onto the beach as well which was quite a beast. We mamaged to get quite close before he decided we were too interesting adn started chasing after us!! We then headed down the other side of the cliff to see the breeding colony of Fur Seals. There was quite a lot of pups there but the guy said that as the winds were so strong making the waves pretty big some of the pups would hav been washed out to sea and drowned cause they are so small :( After being incredibly blown about and frozen we got back on the bus and were home for some time after 10pm. The trip was good for the fact our guide knew a lot about all the animals but i dont think it was really worth the money which was a shame.
Chatted to a few girls in the hostel, watched a weird Christmas film and had some hokey pokey ice cream before heading to bed.
